We know that Samsung Galaxy S7, even the Note 7 (R.I.P.) has a wireless charging capacity. However, the latest iPhone 7 still doesn’t have this feature. Did Apple find wireless charging support less important, or they are just waiting for the perfect time to have this on their phone?
There was a report rounding up the internet about next year’s iPhone to feature wireless charging. And, while there is no official announcement about it, Foxconn, an Apple manufacturing partner, is said to be testing wireless charging modules which are designed to be used in 2017.
What’s new with Apple’s Wireless Charging Technology?
While there are a lot of phones around featuring wireless charging, the feature won’t work without an external case or a charging pad. However, Apple’s wireless charging module, designed by Foxconn, don’t have any special case to make it work. The device is capable of wireless charging, right out of the box.
Nikkei reports that Foxconn is testing iPhone-intended module. So, at least, with that information, we can anticipate that in the near future an iPhone could feature this. But, will the wireless charging be featured in all iPhones that will be released after iPhone 7, or this will be featured by high-end iPhones, perhaps, only iPhone 8 Plus, if there is?
While the concept of iPhones having wireless charging module seems to be a complete package already, Apple hasn’t made any official statement yet.
But, let’s take a look at the possibility that it will indeed release the feature, given the cold reception of iPhone 7, even if Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was then struggling to make up for its ruined reputation. Next year will be the 10th anniversary since the first iPhone was released in 2007 – the 1st generation iPhone. So, it is a possibility that Apple will make the best show, not just to get more sales, but to satisfy avid Apple fans.
Other rumored specs
Aside from the wireless charging feature, the upcoming 2017 iPhone will have an upgrade in the design, as it said to feature a new glass back built into a metal frame for the phone’s body. Perhaps, iPhone 8 will also have the curved display like Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It might have the OLED screen, an under screen light sensor, and perhaps, no home button.
Until there is no official word from Apple, take these with a pinch of salt.
